Case Study

75 London Wall, EC2

CITY OF LONDON

A2O was appointed by GKR Scaffolding to install a 60m pedestrian tunnel to the undercroft of the scaffolding at 75 London Wall. The tunnel reduced disruption for pedestrians in the City of London during this major office redevelopment.

The hoarding was initially installed and secured to the internal scaffold tubes with heights ranging from 2.4m to 3.5m, which is to account for the sloping ground levels. To create the pedestrian walkway, a soffit and low level boxing were used.

The tunnel was built to maintain pedestrian access in one of the busiest areas of London. Strip lighting was built into the soffits and bulkhead lighting was used for all roadside hoardings. A2also introduced an anti-slip buffalo board to the scaffold gantries to improve safety for workers.

The tunnel itself was installed over 2 weekends. The whole project was phased over 5 months, including security maintenance to the scaffold.
